June 7 - June 11

JUNE 7 – 11, 2018

Antony Pitts

Now in its 9th consecutive year, Melbourne International Singers Festival will be led by Guest Conductor Antony Pitts and

Australia’s finest conductors, musicians and singers including: The Song Company, Choir of Hard Knocks,

MEN ALOUD!, XL Arts, Warren Wills, Claire Patti and Dr Jonathon Welch AM.

With just under two weeks to go to our 9th annual Melbourne International Singers Festival, we have so much wonderful news to share with you….and some disappointing news also.
Due to ill health, Richard Gill AO unfortunately has to withdraw from the Melbourne International Singers Festival. Richard very much regrets not being able to proceed and wishes all participants a rewarding and enjoyable Festival.
Of course, we all wish Richard a speedy recovery and we are hoping that he will be able to join us as our Guest Conductor at the Melbourne International Singers Festival in future.
We are delighted to announce, however, that renowned Australian conductor, Antony Pitts, will be replacing Richard as our Guest Conductor, courtesy of The Song Company, leading our festival choruses, workshops & masterclasses.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to work with one of Australia’s finest conductors, Antony Pitts. Antony will rehearse the MISF Mixed Massed Chorus each morning, then conduct you at the FESTIVAL SHOWCASE FINALE on Monday June 11, 2018 in the beautiful Deakin Edge Theatre, Federation Square from 2.30pm.

We are delighted to welcome back Claire Patti, creator of the hauntingly beautiful Co-cheol and The Velvetones this year to lead the Women’s Festival Chorus, along with the award winning MISF Artistic Director Dr Jonathon Welch AM who will lead the Men’s Festival Chorus at the FESTIVAL SHOWCASE FINALE on Monday June 11, 2018 at 2.30pm.

MISF will be presenting opportunities Conductors and Music Teachers to work with Antony Pitts & Dr Jonathon Welch AM  on Friday June 8, 2018 in Deakin Edge Theatre, Federation Square.

We are thrilled to present the internationally acclaimed, award winning The Song Company with Artistic Director, Antony Pitts, to MISF for the first time in “True Love Story” on Friday June 8, 2018 in Deakin Edge Theatre, Federation Square at 7.30pm.

NB Participants in MISF 2018 will receive free entry to this Recital and also have the chance to workshop with The Song Company on Saturday June 9! Tickets to the general public are available at: song.company/true-love-story

After the stunning artistic success of the Australian premiere of Jonathan Dove’s “Tobias and the Angel” at MISF 2017, we are honoured to welcome back the exciting young talents of XL Arts under the artistic direction of Liane Keegan, as they perform in recital!

MISF has a proud history of presenting new Australian works, and will present another world premiere work in 2018 under the inspiring creative direction of Olivier nominated composer, music theatre producer and performer Warren Wills with the School of Hard Knocks MEN ALOUD!

For those participating as an entire choir at MISF this year, you will also get the chance to shine at one of our FESTIVAL SHOWCASE CONCERTS in Deakin Edge Theatre over the weekend.

We can’t wait to see you all at MISF 2018 for another extraordinary weekend of workshops,

educational experiences and performances that will leave you challenged, inspired and entertained!

Proceeds support the School of Hard Knocks in providing arts and cultural programs to the vulnerable and marginalised in our community.
