Melbourne International Singers Festival is thrilled to announce that Richard Gill AO, will be our Guest Conductor for 2017, leading the massed choir rehearsals, workshops and concerts in our 8th consecutive Singers Festival.
Melbourne’s most exciting festival for singers and choirs presents more stunning opportunities to work with some of the world’s finest conductors, composers, arrangers and musicians! Featuring Richard Gill, AO, Founding Music Director and Conductor Emeritus of Victorian Opera, is one of Australia’s pre-eminent and most admired conductors specialising in opera, musical theatre and vocal and choral training and is internationally respected as a music educator. Richard’s work in developing young musicians and creating opportunities for them is recognised world-wide. Richard has been Artistic Director of OzOpera, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and Artistic Advisor for the Music Viva Education program. Richard Gill AO also leads our stunning Festival Finale in 2017 on the Queen’s Birthday public holiday, Monday June 12, with our glorious 400 plus voice Massed Festival Chorus as we raise our voices and wave our flags to celebrate the Best of British music!
